Dave Aftandilian Sol’s utterly unique approach to building doomed soundscapes grabbed me by the throat & shook me the first time I heard it, and has not let me go since. Here we stand with Emil watching the end come: the heavens burning, the oceans bleeding black, hope long since withered to dust and blown away. Blackened chamber music metal ambience sounds humanity’s death knell.

Isolated Danger Mark Emil is the fucking genius. Favorite track: Eastern Sky.

tobias_rieper Instantly clicked and beyond impressed now. Unique, dark, often doom-laden soundscapes aided by a plethora of instruments. Roaring but emotive vocals - not the only part that reminded me of Trepaneringsritualen. One of the songs sounded like sailing into the mist. Another one made me think of running into battle: mindless, enthralled. One track seems like a nod to the weirdos from Trollmann but then... nobody expects female operatic vocals! Such a short album but so much to see.

Before We Disappear is a bleak atmospheric doom metal album with strong dark ambient and neofolk influences. It deals with the trauma and acceptance of the impending apocalypse as well as a post-apocalyptic Earth after humanity.

This is the 14th release by SOL since it began in 2004 as a doom metal solo project of Emil Brahe. Each release is made by a different cast of collaborators with Brahe as the only constant member. Featuring musicians from the classical and underground music scenes of the SOL home town of Aarhus, this release is no different.

Recorded and in production since 2015, Before We Disappear is the follow-up to The Storm Bells Chime, that was released on Avantgarde Music in January 2016.

Out on a limited edition LP by Ván Records (110 on black vinyl and 110 on clear vinyl). To order directly from the label go to:
